But the trash collector is not unlocked till later in the game. And also, you collect trash to buy items from the trash can, and once you unlock the trash collector, it becomes much easier to buy a ton of items and decorate to your hearts content. If you find yourself thinking that it's too challenging, or that some parts of the game are annoying (i,e., booking guests), just know that the game progresses and things get easier. I was pissed.īesides the gameplay flaws, the game itself is very fun and cute. I had just made a bunch of food dishes, which takes quite while, when my game errored right after, thus deleting all my hard work I just did. ![]() ![]() Especially when it keeps happening, it's very annoying. The game automatically saves every 10 minutes or so, but that is a long time to play and then have the game error out. My game never errored out, but now it errors out often and it is extremely annoying because it doesn't save your gameplay. I didn't have this problem up until I got to the 5th BnB. The game has a bug and will error out, quite a bit. The creators didn't seem to put much thought in rethinking the controls for the Switch, they simply just moved it over and you basically use 2 buttons for everything. There are a ton of screens to click and scroll through, which would be much easier via mouse and keyboard. Apparently this game was originally made for PC, which makes a lot of sense as you play. I've played over 20 hours (on switch) and I have to say I LOVE IT! But I have some major gripes. They need to do some MAJOR bug fixes and updates before I would consider picking this back up. I downloaded and played almost all of Cult of the Lamb (which is also glitchy AF in some areas) with less trouble than a single hour of B&B playtime. Honestly, I was so excited for this game, and maybe it’s better on PC/Steam, but I don’t think I will continue playing on Switch. The signs and interactive spots in the area make you stop moving when you push “A” to read them, which makes you think (at least at first) that you need to press “A” again to get out of the convo box, but this just loops the dialogue box until you stop pressing it and the game lets you move again. There is no easy access to the building areas, and basically the Y and X buttons are used for everything, but it’s often confusing where you are on the screen or if you’re picking something up or just moving it in your inventory. The other characters offer no guidance on next steps if you’re not certain what’s needed, and only have repetitive dialogue lines. Your character moves at one speed: extra slow, and is easily hampered by things like little stumps and roots that should just become “walkthrough-able” instead of catching you, but, there we are then. On top of that, trying to build at the table by the shack has resulted in my game crashing/freezing twice. ![]() I don’t know who play tested this game for Nintendo, but the controls are absolutely the worst, and trying to maneuver in here is like Tetrising your way through the map screen. The art is cute, the story is, well, confusing at best (though I’m only about an hour-two hours into it), but the absolute worst part is the unintuitive platforming areas and the controls. ![]() I downloaded this game yesterday on Switch because I have literally been looking forward to it for MONTHS and I am utterly disappointed by it. If you're between BnB and Stray I'd probably go for the other, everything I've heard about it so far sounds amazing! But you'd probably have fun with BnB as well :) The more you progress the more are available which I personally found a bit stressful? It's not too bad rn but not entirely what I imagined from the trailer either (as I've also heard others point out unfortunately). I kinda wish I waited a bit with buying to see if the devs will do more quality of life improvements etc. I thought I'd be able to decorate more as well as that was one of the things I looked forward to a lot but because of the game having 2 currencies, coins and valuables (trash from guests), I'm not able to buy a lot of decorations (costs valuables) /: I really like the art style but at several points I have been a bit annoyed with the monotonous resource gathering (spawns at the same spots).
